Dolce and Gabbana cancelled their Shanghai show for its ad stereotyping Chinese culture.
The brand created the hashtag #DGLovesChina where one video featured a model being instructed by a man speaking in Mandarin on how to eat Italian food with chopsticks. According to Jing Daily, followers in China labeled the posts disrespecting China’s old culture and stereotyping Chinese women.

Diet Prada posted screenshots of the Instagram conversation between Stefano Gabbana and model Michaela Tranova. Things heated up between the two as Tranova challenged Gabbana on the campaign and going back and forth with Gabbana. Gabbana insinuates Tranova is racist for “eating hotdogs,” and “the country of *poop emojis* is China.” Also, the account posted a post on Shanghai government cancelling the runway show hours before it was about to take place.
Gabbana claimed his account was hacked and that Dolce &Gabbana’s team is under investigation for this matter. With the rude comments, no one knows if the beef between Gabbana and Tranova is true.
This isn’t the first time Gabbana is getting heat. Stefano made several remarks, slamming same-sex couples for adopting children and people who use surrogates. He had feuds with other celebrities, including Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga (Never mess with GAGA). Also, he received backlash for dressing First Lady Melania Trump.
Gabbana, you have some explaining to do.
